On the 80th anniversary of Polish 2nd Corps breaking through German Gustav Line at Monte Cassino, the IPN Office of International Cooperation prepared a video of that story in a nutshell. The video is published in three langauge versions: English, Italian and Polish.
For the Polish soldiers, who secured victory inside a week of joining the battle, Monte Cassino was a milestone, but still only a stone on their path. The Monte happened halfway through their story, which began in September 1939, saw them in Soviet labor camps and Middle East deserts, led through WW2 battlefields and scattered around the world after the war.
