The Institute’s guests included representatives of the American Jewish Committee, the USC Shoah Foundation, the Republican Jewish Coalition, the Defiant Requiem Foundation in Washington, journalists and lawyers, including relatives of Holocaust survivors.
The organization of the visit was coordinated by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington and the Polish Press Agency. The primary purpose of the study visit was to present to representatives of the US Jewish community the activities undertaken by the Institute of National Remembrance in the field of modern historical education and to present the functioning and holdings of the IPN Archive.
The guests were welcomed by Rafał Leśkiewicz Ph.D., the Director of the IPN Spokesperson’s Office who briefly presented the newly opened Education Center and what it has to offer for various age groups of visitors. Tomasz Stempowski, The Deputy Head of the Department of Digital Resources at the Institute's Archive, presented the types of documents stored at the IPN, with particular emphasis on materials relating to the Holocaust during World War II. He also briefly discussed the "Archive Full of Remembrance" project.
Next, the guests had the opportunity to personally try out the modern methods of reaching the youngest generation prepared by the Office of New Technologies. Computer games and IT applications based on the results of scientific research for the education of children and young people were presented by Tobiasz Wultanski, project manager at the Office of New Technologies. Our guests also received an English-language version of the report "Immersive History Education. Towards new educational pathways".
Finally, Sławomir Bardski gave the guests a tour of the "Trails of Hope. The Odyssey of Freedom" exhibition telling the story of the combat trail of the soldiers of Gen. Władysław Anders and Stanislaw Maczek. The exhibit had its opening in June 2023 at the Menachem Begin Center in Jerusalem.
