The talks were held in order to establish cooperation in the area of science, education, exhibitions and publishing in accordance with the statutory tasks of the Institute of National Remembrance. Worthy of interest are both the Vatican archives, which are a source of information on the fate of Poland and Poles during the times of two totalitarian regimes - German National Socialism and Communism - and the Roman circles, which were not only a space of freedom for the Polish clergy or consecrated persons, but also the emigration. After all, it is difficult to prepare scholarly works on i.e. the Catholic Church in Poland without reference to church archives.

The meetings were held at the following institutions:

  • Secretariat of State - Historical Archives of the Secretariat of State of the Holy See, with the participation of Msgr. Miroslaw Wachowski (Undersecretary of the Section for Relations with States) and Dr. Johan Ickx (Director of the Historical Archives of the Secretariat of State)
  • The Polish Pontifical Institute of the Church in Rome with Rev. Dr. Adam Sycz (Rector)
  • Polish College in Rome with Rev. Dr. Jan Główczyk (Rector)
  • The Church and Hospice of St. Stanislaus the Bishop and Martyr in Rome with Fr. Tomasz Jarosz (Administrator)

Among other things, during the talks, further steps were established to formalize future cooperation.
