The ceremonies were attended, among others, by the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda, First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda, Speakers of the Sejm and Senate, and representatives of the government and the diplomatic corps. The Institute of National Remembrance was represented by the IPN President Karol Nawrocki, Ph.D. and Deputy Presidents Prof. Karol Polejowski and Mateusz Szpytma, Ph.D.

The celebrations began with the raising of the Polish flag followed by the singing of the national anthem. The memorial appeal was then read and a salute of 21 salvos was fired.

On January 8, 1918, US President Woodrow Wilson formulated his famous 14 points, among which the thirteenth was as follows: the creation of an independent Polish state, populated by an indisputably Polish population, said Polish President Andrzej Duda after the ceremonial changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, referring to the fourteen points of President Thomas Woodrow Wilson's peace program. The president stressed that Poland is now part of the free world, not only culturally, but also politically. The official ceremonies ended with a parade of the Polish Army.

As part of the celebration of Independence Day, the March of Independence passed through the streets of Warsaw. Participants including representatives of the IPN led by Karol Nawrocki, Ph.D., set off from the city center and ended near the National Stadium.
