On 23 August 2025, the Aula of Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko at Dobre Miejsce (Dewajtis 3, Warsaw) was filled with the sounds of music by Ignacy Jan Paderewski and other great composers. The concert was part of the Paderewski Music Festival 2025, held under the patronage of the Institute of National Remembrance, which has long been committed to preserving and promoting the legacy of the great pianist, statesman, and patriot.

Before the performance, representatives of the IPN Office of International Cooperation – Deputy Director Mateusz Marek, Ph.D. and Sławomir Bardski – met with Coleen Jan Paderewski, the closest living relative of the artist. As a gesture of remembrance and gratitude, they presented her with a set of IPN publications highlighting moments of Polish history and the role Paderewski played in the struggle for independence. This symbolic act emphasized that the festival is not only an artistic celebration but also a form of dialogue between history heritage and tradition.

The concert itself became a musical journey in which Paderewski’s works were performed alongside pieces by other composers, showcasing both their artistry and the universal power of music. The audience had the opportunity of experiencing intimate piano miniatures, virtuoso interpretations, and passionate compositions which have been admired the world for generations.

The concert became not only a tribute to Paderewski as an artist but also a reminder of his role as an ambassador of Polish identity and an advocate of freedom. The widely attended event confirmed that his legacy remains alive and continues to inspire.

The Paderewski Music Festival 2025 proved once again that music – like remembrance – has the power to unite generations, evoke reflection, and instill pride in Polish culture and tradition.

Read about the Fathers of Independence

The reconstruction of the Polish State after 123 years of
enslavement was a phenomenon. Efforts of many Poles, their
commitment and sacrifice during the First World War, combined
with vigorous diplomatic actions, resulted in the creation of the
Second Republic of Poland. The whole process was led by the
“Fathers of Independence”.
