On 14 February 2026, commemorations of the National Day of Remembrance of the Home Army Soldiers – a state holiday established in 2025 – were held in Cracow and Warsaw. The ceremonies were attended by the Deputy Presidents of the Institute of National Remembrance, Prof. Karol Polejowski and Mateusz Szpytma, Ph.D..

In Cracow, the ceremony organised by the Institute of National Remembrance and the World Association of Home Army Soldiers took place at Matejki Square. Following the Roll Call of Remembrance, delegations laid flowers and lit candles at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The IPN Deputy Head. Karol Polejowski, emphasized that:

“ The Home Army was a manifestation of the existing Polish state, which never signed an act of capitulation to the Germans or the Soviets, of the Polish state which from the first to the last day of the war, fought against the occupiers. [...] After 1945, the Home Army continued to fight for a free and independent Poland. The last soldier of the Home Army was killed with a weapon in his hand in 1963. [...] The Home Army became a point of reference for all those who did not come to terms with the new Soviet occupation.”

The commemorations were also held in Warsaw. They began with a Holy Mass for the fallen, deceased, and living Home Army soldiers at the Basilica of the Holy Cross. The participants then marched through the streets of Warsaw to the Monument to the Polish Underground State and the Home Army. There, a Roll Call of Remembrance took place, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.
