On 22 March 2026, a Holy Mass was held in Markowa to commemorate the Blessed Ulma Family and other Poles who rescued Jews during World War II. The liturgy was attended by the Deputy President of the Institute of National Remembrance, Mateusz Szpytma, Ph.D.
The Mass, celebrated in the Parish Church of St. Dorothy in Markowa for the intention of Poles rescuing Jews, was presided over by Bishop Jan Wątroba, Ordinary of the Diocese of Rzeszów.
After the liturgy, Mateusz Szpytma, Ph.D. paid tribute at the sarcophagus containing the relics of the Blessed Ulma Family, and at the parish cemetery in Markowa he lit candles on the graves of villagers who, during World War II, gave shelter to Jews.
The Mass was part of the observance of the National Day of Remembrance of Poles who rescued Jews under German occupation.
