On 9 April 2026, a meeting was held at the headquarters of the Institute of National Remembrance with the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Amirsaid Agzamkhodjaev.
The IPN was represented by Deputy President Prof. Karol Polejowski, Director of the Archive Marzena Kruk, Director of the Historical Research Office Dr. Sebastian Pilarski, Director of the Office of International Cooperation Katarzyna Dryńska, and Director of the President’s Office Dr. Marek Jedynak. The meeting was also attended by Jacek Pawłowicz, Deputy Director for Collections at the Museum of the Cursed Soldiers and Political Prisoners of the Polish People’s Republic.
During the meeting, potential road map for cooperation between the IPN and institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan was discussed. The talks focused in particular on historical research, archival cooperation, as well as museum and educational activities. Representatives of the Institute presented the work of the Historical Research Office, the Institute’s archival holdings, and the exhibition and educational projects of the Museum of the Cursed Soldiers and Political Prisoners of the Polish People’s Republic.
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of developing cooperation in the fields of science, research, and exhibitions. He highlighted the shared historical experiences of Poland and Uzbekistan, including those related to the period of Soviet totalitarianism, and also recalled the presence of Anders’ Army in Central Asia.
The discussions also addressed potential joint initiatives, including the organization of an exhibition devoted to Polish–Uzbek relations. Deputy President of the Institute, Prof. Karol Polejowski, underlined the Institute’s existing contacts with countries in the region and received an invitation to visit Uzbekistan. The meeting marks an important step toward establishing and developing cooperation between the institutions of both countries.
