On 13 May, at the IPN headquarters in Warsaw, a meeting was held between representatives of the Institute and Colonel Stéphane Roy, Canada’s Defence Attaché, accompanied by Dr Marcin Wilczek from the Embassy of Canada. Representing the Institute were: Krzysztof Szwagrzyk, the Deputy President of the IPN and the head of the Search and Identification Office, Katarzyna Dryńska, Director of the Office of International Cooperation, and Sylwia Kurzyp, Head of the Historical Analysis Unit of the Office of Search and Identification. During the visit, Col. Roy personally presented a letter of appreciation for the Institute’s support in the process of identifying a Canadian soldier who was killed during the First World War. This is an important example of the Institute’s international cooperation in restoring the memory of fallen war victims.
