On October 7, 2010 a working meeting of the European Network of Official Authorities in Charge of the Secret-Police Files took place in Warsaw. All Network’s 7 institutions were present – from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Poland.
The participants talked about current situation in their institutions - the on-going projects and the events that took place since the last Network’s meeting. The common process now happening is digitalization and easing of the access to the files by the citizens.
The common project has been discussed – a Handbook on Archival Resources of the Network, the work on which is at advanced stage. It will be of use for historians and researchers interested in the files of the secret police. The publication is planned to be released early in 2011.
The first part of the meeting was closed by signing an agreement on bilateral cooperation between IPN and Bulgarian COMDOS. On behalf of IPN the agreement was signed by Franciszek Gryciuk, the Acting President, on the part of COMDOS – by Evtim Kostadinov, Chairman of the Committee.
The new chair of the Network has been elected. From October 9, 2010 the presidency was taken over by Romania, which will hold it until beginning of July 2011. It has been also decided that from mid-July 2011 until March 2012 Bulgaria will preside over the Network.
