Meeting with Shana Penn - Białystok, 5 July 2011

On 5 July 2011 at 11.00 am in Maria Renata Mayenowa room at the University of Białystok (Plac Uniwersytecki 1) a meeting took place with Shana Penn, an American author of historical books in the field of Slavic studies, especially the Polish language, and gender studies.

Shana Penn teaches at Mills College in Canada. She is the executive director of the Taube Foundation for Jewish Life and Culture in the United States. She was the director of media communications in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and director of programming at the International Museum of Women in San Francisco.

Shana Penn gave a lecture entitled "Behind the News Headlines: Hidden History of Women's Leadership in the Solidarity Revolution". The meeting has been organized by the IPN’s Branch Office in Białystok. Admission free.
