On 18 March in the Berlin Heinrich Böll Foundation the exbibition "Learn Polish" was opened by the President of IPN Łukasz Kamiński, together with the Federal Commissioner for the Stasi Archives (BStU) Roland Jahn and Polish Ambassador to Germany Jerzy Margański.
The exhibition prepared by the BStU presents photographs from the archives of Stasi showing many examples of graffiti and leaflets with pro-Polish slogans, such as "Learn Polish", which appeared in East Germany at the turn of 1980 and 1981. The photographs are accompanied by excerpts of Stasi reports documenting GDR citizens' attitudes towards the "Solidarity". In February the exhibition was on display at the IPN Educational Center.
The opening of the exhibition in Berlin was also attended by activists of the democratic opposition such as Józef Pinior, now a Polish senator and Wolfgang Templin, recent head of the Warsaw office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
The exhibition will be open until 14 April 2014, at 8 am-8 pm.
Address: Heinrich Böll Foundation, Schumannstraße 8, 10117 Berlin.
