Let us remind the world of the uprising to freedom!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

On January 4, 1944, the Red Army crossed the pre-war Polish - Soviet borders in Volhynia. It was a signal for the Home Army to begin the "Storm" - a military and political operation, allowing legitimate authorities to rule on Polish ground. The Home Army's  fight against the Germans was to be proof that the Poles have not surrendered and are ready to ensure the safety of their citizens. The Soviets, however, were ruthless: while fighting with the Germans they benefited from the support of the Polish Home Army. But then Polish units were disarmed, their soldiers arrested or conscripted to units subordinate to the Communists. Bit by bit, Poland passed from German under Soviet occupation. The only hope for Polish independence was a cry for help to the free, democratic world. A cry that came from the heart of the country, from its capital - Warsaw. The uprising that broke out on August 1, 1944 was a cry, that remained unanswered…

August 1, 2014 will be the 70th anniversary of the Uprising's outbreak. At 5 p.m., the exact time of the begging of military actions, cars and pedestrians stop in the middle of streets and sirens howl all over Poland. On that day our thoughts will go back to those 63 days of struggle once again. We have the opportunity to remind the world of those whose cry for freedom was never heard. Below you will find a symbol reminding of the Warsaw Uprising. I urge that it is used during the anniversary celebrations, on publications, websites, as prints on t-shirts or stickers. Let it be seen by those who have never heard of the Warsaw Uprising. Let the children of Polish schools abroad receive t-shirts with this symbol at the end of the school year. But first of all, on  August 1, 2014  let everyone to whom the memory of the Uprising is dear wear this symbol. Let's remind the world of the uprising to freedom!
