Exploration and archaeological works carried out in the Służewiec district of Warsaw

Exploration and archaeological works were launched in the Służewiec district of Warsaw. The explorations are being carried out in the cemetery of the Saint Catherine parish in Wałbrzyska Street, the second largest burial place for victims of the Communist regime in Warsaw after the Powązki Cemetery "Ł" quarters during the years 1945-1956. The aim is to find the remains of several hundred persons who died and were murdered in prisons and detention centres of the SB Security Service and the Internal Military Service.

The works are conducted under the supervision of Dr. Krzysztof Szwagrzyk, the team comprises specialists from the Institute of National Remembrance, doctors, anthropologists from the Medical University of Wrocław, as well as scientists and volunteers invited to cooperate.
