Ukrainian delegation in Poland, 22-24 September 2014

Alina Szpak and Ołeksandr Zinczenko, Deputy Director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, Ihor Kułyk - Director of the SBU Archive, Ihor Poszywajło from the Civic Initiative Maidan Museum, Rusłan Zabiłyj from the Museum Prison In Lackiego Street in Lviv and Nina Łapczyńska - editor of the website "Hołodomor 1932-33" were only few of the participants of a study visit to Poland organised by the Jan-Nowak Jeziorański College of Eastern Europe. The aim of the visit was to study the Polish experience in commemorating the historical past.

On 22 September the President of the IPN Dr. Łukasz Kamiński held a meeting with the participants of the study visit and discussed advantages and disadvantages of the IPN model in Poland. Representatives of all IPN divisions attended. The Director of the Public Education Office Mr. Andrzej Zawistowski presented scientific and educational projects of the IPN. The participants of the study visit also had the opportunity to visit the IPN archives in Kłobucka Street. During the visit, a panel on Polish-Ukrainian relations in the 20. century was organised. It was led by Prof. Igor Hałagida, Pof. Grzegorz Hryciuk, Dr. Mariusz Zajączkowski and Bogumiła Berdychowska.

During their stay in Poland, the participants also visited the KARTA Centre, the Museum of Polish History, the Museum of History of Polish Jews, the Warsaw Rising Museum and the Museum of World War II as well as the European Solidarity Centre in Gdansk.
