Council of Members meeting of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience European Parliament, Brussels, 4-5 November, 2014

This year's annual meeting of the Members of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience took place in Brussels, in the European Parliament.

The agenda included: annual report of the Platform, opening of the Platform's representative office at Rue Bélliard 197, with opening remarks by Mr. Tibor Navracsics, new European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport. of the European Commission  as well as guest lecture by Edward Lucas, British journalist and discussion with representatives of Memorial organisation about the current situation in Russia.

During the meeting the Platform welcomed 6 new members which are: Nova slovenska zaveza (Slovenia), Centre for Documentation of Totalitarian Regimes (Czech Republic), Hungarian Committee of National Remembrance (Hungary), Confederation of Political Prisoners of the Czech Republic, Institute of National Remembrance (Ukraine), and Truc Spherique (Slovakia).

Also, Mr. Miroslav Lehky, Czech human right activist, representative of the Jana Langos Foundation, was appointed as a new member of the Supervisory Board.

Moreover, the participants of the annual meeting participated in the European Parliament's Home Affairs Committee Session on Civil Liberties.

IPN was represented by Dr. Paweł Ukielski, Deputy President of IPN, and Katarzyna Kienhuis, Head of the Division of International Relations.
