The exhibition „From War to Victory, 1939-1989” will be presented in the Munk School of Global Affairs of the University of Toronto on 9-26 January 2015. The exhibition was prepared by the IPN Public Education Office.
During the opening ceremony, the President of the Institute of National Remembrance, Dr. Łukasz Kamiński, will hold a speech on the post-war history of Poland, focusing on four dimensions - the events relevant to the contemporary Polish identity, justice for the victims, universal values and lessons for the future.
The exhibition presents Poland under the German and Soviet occupation, followed by the installation of Communism after the World War II. Through a selection of photographs, it tells the stories of Polish freedom fighters, the Polish Underground State, oppositional activities during the period of the Polish People's Republic as well as the development of the „Solidarity” movement and the collapse of Communist dictatorship.
Each year, the IPN Institute prepares exhibitions devoted to the many aspects of Polish history in the twentieth century, especially the repressions by the totalitarian systems and to the various forms of resistance. Some of them also focus on Polish relations with other nations, or international events such as the Cold War.
Address of the exhibition: University of Toronto, the Munk School of Global Affairs, South Wing, 1 Devonshire Place
