Vyacheslav Kyrylenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture of Ukraine, visits IPN - Warsaw, 24 February 2015

President of the Institute of National Remembrance Łukasz Kamiński hosted Vyacheslav Kyrylenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture of Ukraine. Deputy Prime Minister was accompanied by Andriy Deshchytsia, the Ambassador of Ukraine in Poland and Andriy Vitrenko, Deputy Minister of Culture of Ukraine responsible for European Integration.

Prior to the meeting in the IPN Deputy Minister of Ukraine in an interview with PAP said: „Kiev would like to use Polish experience in decommunisation and integration of society.” The meeting with the President of IPN concerned cooperation in exchanging experience concerning historical memory and reappraisal of crimes of the past. The Deputy Prime Minister got acquainted with work of all four departments of the Institute, i.e. .: Archives, Prosecuting Office, Vetting and Public Education. He was particularly interested in issues regarding vetting. Both sides agreed there is a need for historical dialogue, concerning difficult issues in our common history.

The meeting was also attended Prof. Grzegorz Motyka, Chairman of the IPN Committee, IPN Vice-Presidents - Agnieszka Rudzińska and Paweł Ukielski and directors of all departments of the Institute.
