Letter to the FBI director James Comey - Warsaw, April 21, 2015

„It was Poland who was first to oppose the absolute evil embodied by the Third Reich led by Adolf Hitler. In the absence of military action on the part of Western allies Poland was divided between two most murderous totalitarian regimes in human history - the German Nazism and Soviet Communism. It was Polish soldiers who fought „for our freedom and yours,” being the only ones from the very first to the last day of the war. It was in Poland that hiding Jewish people led to extermination of whole families. And yet the largest group of „Righteous Among the Nations” come from our country.”
- excerpt of the letter to the director of the FBI from the president of IPN and directors of major Polish museum and institutions dealing with recent history.
