Annual meeting of the European Network of Official Authorities in Charge of Secret Police Files – Berlin, 19-20 October 2015

The annual meeting of the European Network of Official Authorities in Charge of Secret Police Files took place in Berlin. Institutions from Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Germany which are in charge with reappraising the Communist past, reunited to discuss common goals, as well as challenges and successes of the past year. Apart from the permanent members of the Network observer institutions from Latvia and Slovenia joined the discussion.The meeting was held in the headquarters of BStU located in the former seat of Stasi.

On 19 October Dr. Łukasz Kamiński, President of IPN, took part in the panel discussion „Transparency of the Clandestine. The Eastern European Secret Police Archives and Democratic Change.” On the same day the exhibition entitled „By Any Means. Communist Secret Police and People's Everyday Life” was opened. The exhibition created jointly by the European Network portraits the work of the Communist secret police, its repressive methods and their impact on people's everyday life.
