Among the Institute’s guests were representatives of the US Jewish federations, journalists and lawyers, including relatives of Holocaust survivors.
The organization of the visit was coordinated by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington and the Polish Press Agency. The primary purpose of the study visit was to present to representatives of the US Jewish community the activities undertaken by the Institute of National Remembrance in the field of modern historical education and to present the functioning and holdings of the IPN Archive.
The guests were welcomed by Sławomir Bardski from the IPN Office of International Cooperation, who briefly outlined the tasks of the Institute of National Remembrance and gave the guests a tour of the "Trails of Hope. The Odyssey of Freedom" exhibition telling the story of the combat trail of the soldiers of Gen. Władysław Anders and Stanislaw Maczek. Polish-Hebrew version of the exhibit had its opening in June 2023 at the Menachem Begin Center in Jerusalem. Tomasz Stempowski, The Deputy Head of the Department of Digital Resources at the Institute's Archive, presented the types of documents stored at the IPN, with particular emphasis on materials relating to the Holocaust during World War II. He also briefly discussed the "Archive Full of Remembrance" project.
After a short discussion the guests had the opportunity to try out the modern methods of reaching the youngest generation prepared by the Office of New Technologies. Computer games and IT applications based on the results of scientific research for the education of children and young people were presented by Tobiasz Wultanski, project manager at the Office of New Technologies. Our guests also received an English-language version of the report "Immersive History Education. Towards new educational pathways".
