On 3 March 2026, a conference dedicated to the life and work of Zofia Kossak-Szczucka—an outstanding Polish writer, publicist, and underground activist during the Second World War—was held at the prestigious Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City.

The meeting brought together members of the academic community, students, and guests interested in Polish history and literature. The conference was hosted by Higinio Paterna Sanchez, the translator of Zofia Kossak’s works into Spanish. He introduced the Mexican audience to the historical context of the author’s writings and their significance for European cultural heritage. Particular attention was devoted to the moral dimension of her work, her experiences during the German occupation, and her involvement in the Council to Aid Jews “Żegota”.

The event was accompanied by an exhibition prepared by the Institute of National Remembrance, presenting the biography and literary achievements of Zofia Kossak against the backdrop of the dramatic events of the twentieth century.

The conference was attended by Cezary Kruk, Counsellor for Culture at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Mexico, as well as representatives of the university authorities, who emphasized the importance of international academic and cultural cooperation. They highlighted the need to promote the achievements of Polish authors in Latin America and to build intercultural dialogue through joint academic initiatives.

The conference at Universidad Panamericana aimed to promote Polish literature and history in Mexico and served as an example of fruitful cooperation between Polish and foreign institutions in the fields of education and culture.

The event was held under the honorary patronage of the President of the Institute of National Remembrance. The exhibition was organized by the IPN Office of International Cooperation.
