On 28 May 2026, the IPN’s Office of International Cooperation representatives participated in a conference at Colegio Gaztelueta in Bilbao as part of the international project “Escritores contra las tiranías” (“Writers Against Tyranny”). The conference focused on the life and work of Zofia Kossak, a renowned Polish writer, publicist, resistance activist and co-founder of the Council to Aid Jews “Żegota.” Her writings and wartime activity were presented as a powerful testimony of moral courage and opposition to totalitarian violence. Lectures were delivered by Higinio Paterna, translator of Zofia Kossak’s works into Spanish, and Sławomir Bardski from the IPN’s Office of International Cooperation. The speakers discussed the historical context of Kossak’s work, her role during WW2, and the enduring relevance of her message in today’s world. The event also included the opening of an IPN exhibition dedicated to the life and literary legacy of Zofia Kossak.
